Mr. Tatewos Dshorknzjan, an Armenian based in Germany, has organized a tribute to Cathy Berberian on the occasion of her 80th birthday. The concert ‘Hommage À Cathy Berberian’ will take place in the Chamber Music Hall of the Armenian Philharmonic Society in Yerevan, on the 4th of July 2005, at 7.00 p.m. With the participation of internationally well-known soloists of the Yerevan National Opera (32 singers and musicians).
The concert will also be broadcasted by the Armenian Television. Mr. Tatewos is also working on creating the Cathy Berberian Auditorium at the the Yerevan Conservatory. Furthermore, he intends to initiate a Cathy Berberian Grant for students who will study Cathy Berberian’s approach to vocal interpretation.
